ARGOLA

ARGOLA
Harvested from the cork oak every nine years, cork is a natural, environmentally friendly material. It is simultaneously light, impact resistant, visually appealing and comforting to the touch.
Cork is harvested from the cork oak in a purely manual manner. From this process, ARGOLA begins to take shape through a slit in the base allowing light to pass through.
The thick handle fills the hand, allowing it to be carried at home or enjoyed on a evening stroll in the street. The cork feels and at the same time plays a prominent role, giving the lamp a certain personality. This is only possible due to the charging of a battery via a USB port.
The Argola lamp is the result of a project developed at the University of Aveiro, in partnership with the Corticeira Amorim company, with the aim of exploring a new production technology, compression of agglomerated cork with resin.
